1. Great location: Steps from Chinatown, 2-3 city blocks from BART and Union Square. 20-30mins walk to wharf, lombart street, etc but lots of hills. 2. Safe: was worried about personal safety as am solo female traveller but not many homeless in San Francisco. If there is, it's only 1 person on their own, sometimes acting oddly, but you can just walk around and avoid them. I also walked back past 11pm after a concert; streets were empty with the random tourist walking back to their hotel (as its close to Financial District) but fortunately no dangerous homeless. I also went to many places in San Francisco and didn't encounter many homeless, maybe 1 a day? Streets were beautiful, safe and clean. 3. Value: room size was spacious, even for 2 pax. You can probably add a single bed as well. I got the long stay price, which was surprisingly cheaper than 5 nights stay (my original plan). Everything else in San Francisco is expensive though. Food really burnt a hole in your pocket, around $20+ for a main meal (including fast food combos). 4. Cleanliness: Room and toilet was clean, if a little dated with some dents here and there. Sink was oddly placed in the room instead of toilet with short taps (very old-fashioned) so be careful of water splashes. 5. Facilities: In-room facilities were great! Had a mini fridge and heater. No air-conditioning but I was here in spring so it was cool; just open the window if needed. Hotel also provided clean, spacious common area with hot/cold water, coffee, hot chocolate, paper cups and plates. Great place to have take-out. 6. Noise: Sound-proofing of rooms not great. 2 nights into my stay, there was some guest who kept stomping in the room above me. Luckily they slept early so the noise stopped before midnight. My room was also facing the roof of the building next door and there was some kinda machinery that kept rumbling. It only cut off at 10pm. Not great for anyone who needs a nap in the daytime.

Me and My Son had a Very Good Stay at your Hotel. Our Room was a Good Size with 2 Double Beds in, And our own Private Bathroom, and a Large TV with Plenty of Channels on in Our Room. Location of Hotel is Brilliant aswel. We Walked everywhere All Over every Part of San Francisco, We even Walked to the Golden Gate Bridge 🌉 I Would Definitely Recommend This Hotel To everyone, they have a Bar inside this Hotel and just at the Side of Hotel there’s a Lovely Irish Bar ☘️ And Restaurant that we did use a couple of times. There’s Also Free Tea/ Coffee at Reception area, which I did enjoy… So Thank You Hotel Des Arts. 😊

The location is super great and it is a great value stay. The room has just what you need and the room and towels and everything was really clean. Check in is easy and we were able to leave our bags in storage after checking out. I definitely would recommend this place. Complimentary tea, coffee and water.

Laura

Location near many cool things, colorful rooms, comfy beds, rooms have full bathrooms, cute lobby to hang out, app to unlock door no need for keys (was useful since many of us arrived at different times), literally connected to a bar (couldn’t hear anything from our room)

Cesar

Hotel is located right next to Chinatown and the financial district. BART/Muni stops are just a five minute walk away. The hotel has a unique style, lots of handdrawn art which gives it a lot of character. Our room was spacious with comfortable beds.
