1. Great location: Steps from Chinatown, 2-3 city blocks from BART and Union Square. 20-30mins walk to wharf, lombart street, etc but lots of hills. 2. Safe: was worried about personal safety as am solo female traveller but not many homeless in San Francisco. If there is, it's only 1 person on their own, sometimes acting oddly, but you can just walk around and avoid them. I also walked back past 11pm after a concert; streets were empty with the random tourist walking back to their hotel (as its close to Financial District) but fortunately no dangerous homeless. I also went to many places in San Francisco and didn't encounter many homeless, maybe 1 a day? Streets were beautiful, safe and clean. 3. Value: room size was spacious, even for 2 pax. You can probably add a single bed as well. I got the long stay price, which was surprisingly cheaper than 5 nights stay (my original plan). Everything else in San Francisco is expensive though. Food really burnt a hole in your pocket, around $20+ for a main meal (including fast food combos). 4. Cleanliness: Room and toilet was clean, if a little dated with some dents here and there. Sink was oddly placed in the room instead of toilet with short taps (very old-fashioned) so be careful of water splashes. 5. Facilities: In-room facilities were great! Had a mini fridge and heater. No air-conditioning but I was here in spring so it was cool; just open the window if needed. Hotel also provided clean, spacious common area with hot/cold water, coffee, hot chocolate, paper cups and plates. Great place to have take-out. 6. Noise: Sound-proofing of rooms not great. 2 nights into my stay, there was some guest who kept stomping in the room above me. Luckily they slept early so the noise stopped before midnight. My room was also facing the roof of the building next door and there was some kinda machinery that kept rumbling. It only cut off at 10pm. Not great for anyone who needs a nap in the daytime.

I stayed at Hotel Des Arts for 2 weeks while looking for permanent accommodation in SF, and my experience was great! I had to extend my stay twice, and there was no problem with me staying in the same room. The bedroom was small yet comfortable, with a mini fridge, an iron, and a hairdryer - everything I needed. There was also free coffee and a microwave downstairs. The room and shared bathroom were super clean. The location couldn’t be better - it’s within walking distance of stores, public transport, and many tourist attractions! As a young woman in my mid-20s, I felt completely safe there. I highly recommend it! The sketchy shady lady will stay in my heart forever! ❤️

Me and My Son had a Very Good Stay at your Hotel. Our Room was a Good Size with 2 Double Beds in, And our own Private Bathroom, and a Large TV with Plenty of Channels on in Our Room. Location of Hotel is Brilliant aswel. We Walked everywhere All Over every Part of San Francisco, We even Walked to the Golden Gate Bridge 🌉 I Would Definitely Recommend This Hotel To everyone, they have a Bar inside this Hotel and just at the Side of Hotel there’s a Lovely Irish Bar ☘️ And Restaurant that we did use a couple of times. There’s Also Free Tea/ Coffee at Reception area, which I did enjoy… So Thank You Hotel Des Arts. 😊

This place exceeded our expectations! It was spotlessly clean, located in a great area, and offered at a very reasonable price. The only minor issue we encountered was that one of the digital keys stopped working on my phone—but it wasn’t a big deal since we always had access with the second phone. We 100% recommend this place and would definitely stay here again!

One of the most unique places you can stay in this area, very quirky and fun deco and full of things to enjoy and discover while staying there, even the bathroom had funny details and little paintings that will guarantee to make you laugh. Contactless overall staying was interesting and gave my friends staying there a lot of flexibility.
